State Representative Dave Severin, a long-time small business owner, is celebrating National Small Business Week by urging residents to support local businesses. Severin, who has owned small businesses for over two decades, emphasized the importance of shopping locally.
"Owning and operating a small business is a challenge, especially in a state like Illinois," Severin stated. "I know this first-hand, as I have owned my own small businesses for more than 20 years now."
He continued, "On this National Small Business Week in America, I want to encourage anyone that is able to shop locally. When we shop local, our money stays in our communities where we can control how it gets spent. I am thankful to anyone that has taken the great leap of faith to open their own small business and want to encourage everyone to shop local not only on Small Business Week, but every week."
National Small Business Week has been a tradition in the United States for over 50 years. To learn more about National Small Business Week, visit www.sba.gov/national-small-business-week.
