City of Genoa Economic Development Commission met March 12.

Here are the minutes provided by the commission:

Chair Nick Bradac called the March 12, 2024 City of Genoa Economic Development Commission Meeting to order at 9:03 A.M.

On roll call, members Nick Bradac, Carolyn Tobinson, Matt Hoffman, DeaLynn Stone, and Josh Kubiak were present; Mayor Jonathon Brust and City Administrator Alyssa Seguss, City of Genoa, was also present.

The Economic Development Commission moved on to Old Business. Ms. Stone moved and Chair Bradac seconded to approve the minutes of the February 13, 2024 meeting. Upon voice vote, all members present said aye.

New Business:

A. Review 2024 Goals:

B. Updates on Possible Commercial Kitchen Space: The EDC discussed business owners that were approached to discuss possibly renting their kitchen space. Of these conversations, it was found that the Food Hub rents their commercial kitchen space. EDC will make referrals to the Food Hub when discussing the possible larger commercial kitchen spaces with cottage makers.

C. Reinstating Incubator Space: Review 2024 goals established and report on the following action items:

a. Existing Building Leases: The City Council will discuss the Old City Hall Leases on March 20th.

b. Possible Strip Mall Locations for alternative incubator spaces: The EDC approached multiple property owners and unfortunately there wasn’t available space within strip malls for a new incubator space. However, there are a couple locations that are possible incubator space locations in the downtown.

c. Continue conversation regarding shared professional workspace

D. Updates from the Chair: None at this time.

E. Next Meeting Agenda: The EDC will continue to discuss incubator space locations.

There being no further business, Chair Bradac made a motion to adjourn the meeting at 10:05 AM, seconded by Mr. Kubiak. Upon voice vote, all members present said aye.
