Village of Yates City Board of Trustees met Oct. 11.

Here are the minutes provided by the board:

1. Call to Order: 6:00 p.m.

2. Roll Call: Present: Ken Vallas, Seth Lekies, Matt Ehens, Dave Mahr, Debbie Canier, Joy Mahr, Ron Smith

3. Pledge: We stood and gave Pledge of Allegiance to our flag.

4. Approval of Minutes for September 13th Board Meeting and October 4th Committee Meeting Minutes &

5. Approval of Monthly Bills and Payroll and Monthly Financials

An additional cost to Corin Main for 2 valves was added to the financials.

Ehens made a motion to approve the Board Minutes for Sept. 13th and the Committee Minutes for Oct.4th, and to also approve the Monthly Bills, Payroll and Financial Statements. Smith second motion. Roll call unanimous.

6. Citizens to address the Board Marley from the Weekly Post attended the Board Meeting to observe.

7. Police Report: September report was presented to the Village President.

NEW BUSINESS:

8. Discussion and possible action on bids for stump grinding & removal, tree removal and removal of wood pile from the South Lot on Burson St.

There were 2 bids. Advanced Tree Service from Canton, Illinois for a bid of $3600.00 and a bid from Ted Durdel from Peoria, Il for $7000.00. Smith approved hiring Advanced Tree for $2100 and we would clean up wood pile. Ehens second motion. Roll call unanimous.

9. Discussion and action on purchasing of parts for water main repairs.

Mahr made a motion to approve up to $2500 for parts. Ehens second motion. Roll call unanimous.

10. Discussion and possible action for approval of lodging, mileage, meals and expenses for the Village President to attend a 2-day workshop for the CDBG and for Trustee Mark Hosttler to attend part of the workshop.

Mahr made a motion to approve. Ehens second motion. Roll call unanimous.

11. Discussion regarding replacement of Attorney Wayne Statham due to retirement.

Wayne has addressed 2 firms that may send a proposal.

12. Discussion and possible action on seting salaries for Elected Officials, Treasurer and City Clerk for May 2024.

No increases were given. The Board and Village employees each agreed that it was unnecessary at this time and felt the increase last year was generous.

13. Discussion and possible action on a placement of an ad for the Farmington Sports Program.

A price sheet & size of ads was passed to the Board Members. It was agreed that the ad be the same size as last year with the cost being the same at $35.00. &

14. Discussion on extra hours for Same Hostetler, and also if he may be needed for winter snow plowing.

This was previously approved at the time of hiring that Sam could work more than 10 hours.

Mahr made a motion to adjourn. 6:21 p.m. Ehens second. Meeting adjourned.
