Village of Crainville Board of Trustees met Aug. 22

Village of Crainville Board of Trustees met Aug. 22.

Here are the minutes provided by the board:

A quorum was present:

Bills:

The following Bills were added to the August 2023 bills. UMB for $318.00 administrative fees for the 2014 bond split in half between Water and General Accounts; SIWO fall water conference 2 staff $60.00 to come out of the Water Account.

Motion 1:  Harbin made the motion and Oetjen seconded the motion to pay the August 2023 bills as presented.  All present voted yea and the President declared the motion carried.

Motion 2: Harbin made the motion and Rains seconded the motion to purchase 10 Honor Wreaths for $170.00. All present voted yea and the President declared the motion carried.

Solar Program

Illinois Adjustable Block Program is considering supporting a Community-Driven Community Solar Program. In Southern Illinois many coal-fired power stations have either closed or reduced their capacity; this means that electricity used in our region has to be purchased outside the region t an increased cost to the consumer. The solar energy system will allow the purchase of generated electricity at a lower rate.

Motion 3: Oetjen made the motion and Bruyns seconded the motion to send have Mayor Mitchell send a letter of support for Community Driven Community Solar Program to the Illinois Adjustable Block Program. All present voted yea and the President declared the motion carried.

Chapter 6 Public Welfare

The Public Welfare Committee presented proposed changes to the Public Welfare Ordinances. The Board continued to review changes to the Public Welfare Ordinances that were recommended by the Public Welfare Committee and the Village Attorney. 

Executive Session

Motion 4: Jones made the motion and Harbin seconded the motion to go into Executive Session to discuss personnel issues at 8:00 p.m. All present voted yea and the President declared the motion carried.

The Board came out of Executive Session at 8:10 p.m.

Motion 5: Jones made the motion and Rains seconded the motion to hire Joe Castleberry to help prepare and send a report to the US Treasury Department regarding the SLFRF money that the Village received; payment not to exceed $1,000.00. All present voted yea and the President declared the motion carried.

Motion 6: Jones made the motion and Harbin seconded the motion to adjourn the August 22, 2023 Board Meeting at 8:15 pm. All present voted yea and the President declared the motion carried.

Adjournment

The August 22, 2023 Board Meeting was adjourned at 8:15.
