In a recent Facebook post, Illinois state Sen. Terri Bryant (R-Murphysboro) shared an invitation for students to join her Youth Advisory Council.

"Students and parents let your school administrators know you want to attend," she said in the post. "We still have room for several more students."

The upcoming Youth Advisory Council will be the second one since the first took place over a year ago in December 2021. That first event gathered two dozen youths from the 16 high schools across the 58th District to the state capitol, a Marion Republican article said.

The upcoming event will provide an opportunity for the youth in Senate District 58 to learn firsthand what the legislative process is like. It will take place from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Wednesday at the State Capitol.

To nominate a student or RSVP, high schools are encouraged to email Paige Buente at pbuente@sgop.ilga.gov or call 217-782-7330.
