Johnston City Community Unit School District 1 Board of Education met Feb. 23

Johnston City Community Unit School District 1 Board of Education met Feb. 23.

Here is the agenda provided by the board:

Acting President Eric Schuler called the second regular monthly meeting of the De Soto Village Board of Trustees to order at 7:08 P.M.  Jana Fann was present to record the minutes.

Present :           Brian Gleason         Eric Schuler

                         Jennifer Morgan      Cristy Desormeaux

Absent:            Tony Rushing           Paulette Johnson

Motion made by Brian Gleason, seconded by Cristy Desormeaux, to dispense with the reading of the minutes and to approve them.  Motion carried.

Motion made by Brian Gleason, seconded by Cristy Desormeaux, to approve the January revenue report.  Motion carried.

Motion made by Cristy Desormeaux, seconded by Brian Gleason, to pay the list of bills.  Upon roll call vote: Brian Gleason – Yes; Eric Schuler – Yes; Jennifer Morgan – Yes; Cristy Desormeaux – Yes.  Motion carried.

Allison Sutphin was present to make the board aware that more animals are being brought in on the property located at 408 East Jackson Street, Heather Frakes-Campbell.  Chief Ben Doan to look into the situation.

Motion made by Cristy Desormeaux, seconded by Jennifer Morgan, to accept the wastewater operator contract with William Center of J.T. Blankinship.  Upon roll call vote:  Brian Gleason – Yes; Eric Schuler – Yes; Jennifer Morgan – Yes; Cristy Desormeaux – Yes.  Motion carried.

Motion made by Jennifer Morgan, seconded by Cristy Desormeaux, to offer the lot located at 207 North Walnut Street to Katrina Lindsey at the price of $4,800.   Upon roll call vote:  Brian Gleason – Yes; Eric Schuler – Yes; Jennifer Morgan – Yes; Cristy Desormeaux – Yes.  Motion carried.

Brian Gleason said that Chief Ben Doan posted on the village Facebook page that the police department is accepting applications for full and part-time patrolman positions.

David Griffin was presented a retirement gift in appreciation of his years of service with the Village of De Soto. 

Motion made by Brian Gleason, seconded by Jennifer Morgan, to adjourn at 7:37 PM.  Motion carried.
