Village of De Soto Board of Trustees met Jan. 17.

Here are the minutes provided by the board:

Acting President Eric Schuler called the second regular monthly meeting of the De Soto Village Board of Trustees to order at 7:00 P.M. Village Clerk Paula Parks was present to record the minutes.

Present :  Tony Rushing           Brian Gleason

Paulette Johnson      Eric Schuler

Cristy Desormeaux

Absent: Jennifer Morgan

Motion made by Tony Rushing, seconded by Paulette Johnson, to dispense with the reading of the minutes and to approve them. Motion carried.

Motion made by Brin Gleason, seconded by Tony Rushing, to approve the December Revenue report. Motion carried.

Jennifer Morgan entered the meeting and took her seat at 7:03 PM.

Motion made by Tony Rushing, seconded by Cristy Desormeaux, to pay the list of bills. Upon roll call vote: Tony Rushing – Yes; Brian Gleason – Yes; Paulette Johnson – Yes; Eric Schuler – Yes; Jennifer Morgan – Yes; Cristy Desormeaux – Yes. Motion carried.

Motion made by Paulette Johnson, seconded by Tony Rushing, to suspend the rules and move Agenda Item 6a in regard to a pay increase for the utilities clerk to the last item on the agenda. Motion carried.

Police Chief Ben Doan reported that property cleanup is progressing.

The park Easter Egg hunt will be held Saturday, April 1 from 9 am – 11 am.

Trustee Jennifer Morgan reported that the De Soto Little League 5K will be held April 15.

The Little League will hold a yard sale at the park pavilion during the City Wide Yard Sale. Donations for the yard sale are welcome. See the Little League Facebook page for details.

The Little League is planning to have an opening night on May 19.

Motion made by Jennifer Morgan, seconded by Tony Rushing, to allow the De Soto Lions Club to collection donations at the four-way intersection on Friday, May 5 with a rain date of May 12, 2023 and October 6 with a rain date of October 13, 2023. Motion carried.

Motion made by Paulette Johnson, seconded by Cristy Desormeaux, to go into executive session at 7:32 PM to discuss personnel, pursuant to 5 ILCS 120/2(c)(5). Upon roll call vote:

Tony Rushing – Yes; Brian Gleason – Yes; Paulette Johnson – Yes; Eric Schuler – Yes; Jennifer Morgan – Yes; Cristy Desormeaux – Yes. Motion carried.

Motion made by Tony Rushing, seconded by Cristy Desormeaux, to come out of executive session at 8: 14 PM.

Motion made by Paulette Johnson to raise Utilities Clerk Tricia Burns’ pay to $14.50 per hour, retroactive to the first pay period in January, and to give her three additional paid holidays of her choice. Upon roll call vote: Tony Rushing – Yes; Brian Gleason – Yes; Paulette Johnson – Yes; Eric Schuler – Yes; Jennifer Morgan – Yes; Cristy Desormeaux – Yes. Motion carried.

The next regular Village board meeting will be held Monday February 6, 2023 at 7 PM at the village hall.

Motion made by Jennifer Morgan, seconded by Tony Rushing, to adjourn at 8:19 PM. Motion carried.
