Village of Yates City Board met Jan. 11.

Here are the minutes provided by the board:

Call to Order: 6:00 p.m.

Roll Call: Present: President Ken Vallas

Board Trustees: Tom Kinzer, Dave Mahr, Seth Lekies, Mark Hostetler and Ron Smith

Absent: Matt Ehens

Others Present: Joy Mahr, Wayne Statham, Jared Dexter

Pledge: We all stood and gave Pledge of Allegiance to our flag.

Discussion and possible action on a CDBG Resolution: (New Business)

Kinzer made a motion to approve. Lekies second motion. Roll vote unanimous. Jared Dexter leaves Board Meeting 6:04pm.

Monthly Meeting Minutes:

Kinzer made a motion to approve the Minutes for the Board Meeting December 14, 2022, the Special Board Meeting December 17, 2022 and the Committee Meeting Minutes for January 4, 2023. Lekies second A Roll vote unanimous

Approval of Monthly Bills, Monthly Payroll

A correction was made for our Monthly Payment to the Salem Park District. It erroneously was $660 and was corrected to $330.

Motions were made by Kinzer and seconded by Mahr to approve the monthly bills. Roll call unanimous. Motions were made by Kinzer and seconded by Mahr to approve Payroll. Roll vote unanimous.

Approval of Monthly Financial Statements:

Hawkin’s Bill moved from the Corporate Account to Water Works Account.Motions were made by Kinzer and seconded by Smith to approve Monthly Financial Statements. Roll vote unanimous.

Citizens, if any, to address the Board: N/A

Police Report:

Chief Benson distributed the monthly report. A discussion ensued regarding the Amstar Gas Station selling liquor to underage patrons. A police trap was set prior to the New Year’s weekend where the incriminating incident happened. Ken Vallas pulled Amstar’s Liquor License. The owner of Amstar admitted the violation and agreed to signing an admission form, paying a fee to the State and additional training for the guilty employee and a hearing. Vallas promptly returned the Liquor License. Vallas stressed the need to consolidate the Yates City Liquor Ordinances for easier interpretation in the future. Wayne Statham will do the consolidating.

OLD BUSINESS:

1. Discussion and possible action regarding Old Library property. There is a offer to purchase the Old Library from the town. We will run an advertisement for 3 weeks in the Weekly Post and the Galesburg Register Mail with a minimum bid of $15000 and any stipulations for a competitive bid. We will accept sealed bids. The sealed bids will be opened on the March 2023 Board Meeting.

NEW BUSINESS:

Discussion and possible hiring of an employee or contracting with a company for the public works department. Tabled for next meeting.

Water, Garbage, Sewer rate increases will be discussed on February’s agenda

Adjournment: Kinzer made a motion to adjourn with Smith second. Roll call unanimous.
