On Aug. 16, Sen. Terri Bryant (R-Murphysboro) attended a ribbon-cutting ceremony for Rome School’s new playground.
“I was pleased and proud to attend the ribbon cutting for a new playground at Rome School in Dix,” Bryant wrote on Facebook. “This awesome community continues to come through for their kids.”
After running uncontested in the primary election, Bryant is running uncontested in the Nov. 8 general election as well.
Bryant has kept herself busy during the legislative break.
She recently joined Rep. Dave Severin (R-Marion) to announce funding for the Rend Lake Resort and Conference Center's expansion.
Bryant also recently spoke out against Gov. J.B. Pritzker's plan to expand Medicaid reimbursement rates for abortion services and Title X funding for family planning and reproductive health service providers across the state.
“More of your hard-earned money [is] being spent to provide abortions for anyone that wants one,” Bryant said recently in a Facebook post. “Remember [that] in Illinois, all pregnant woman [sic] – regardless of income – qualify for Medicaid. That means 100% taxpayer-funded abortion."
She’s also spoken about the need to ensure Illinois' energy resources can meet demand in the future.
“Illinois is both one of the top energy producing and energy consuming states in the nation,” Bryant said. “We have to make sure that the energy production and grid capacity (can) keep up with our energy consumption. If we don’t, we face the possibility of even more utility rate increases and an even higher risk for rolling blackouts throughout much of the state.”
