Trico Community Unit School District 176 Board met March 21.

Here are the minutes provided by the board:

Board President, Mrs. Lois Jones called the regular meeting of the Trico Board of Education in the Trico Media Center at 6:30 p.m. Members present were Mr. Gerald Speith, Mr. Matt Rodewald, Mr. Mario Dolce, Mr. Brian Blazier, Mrs. Amy Naile,  and President Lois Jones. Absent: Mr. Michael Baker.

Mr. Rodewald moved, second by Mr. Speith to approve the following Consent Agenda:

1.  Approve minutes of the regular board meeting for 02.22.2022

3. Approve bills for March 2022

4. Approve Activity Fund for February 2022

5. Approve monthly Finance Statement for February 2022

6. Approve Substitute List for February 2022

7. Approve Enrollment thru 03.17.2022

8. Approve Student Discipline Report for 02.18.2022 through 03.16.2022

Mrs. Naile moved, second by Mr. Rodewald to approve the amended 2021-2022 school year calendar as presented. Yes: Rodewald, Dolce, Blazier, Naile, Speith, Jones. No: None. Motion carried.

Mr. Speith moved, second by Mr. Blazier to approve the tentative 2022-2023 school calendar as presented. Yes: Dolce, Blazier, Naile, Speith, Rodewald, Jones. No: None. Motion carried. 

Mrs. Naile moved, second by Mr. Rodewald to approve the sell as is, through sealed bids with no minimum bid, 2 used Trico School buses. Bus #2, 2004 with 200,750 miles and bus #5, 1998 with 222, 997 miles. Yes: Blazier, Naile, Speith, Rodewald, Dolce, Jones. No: None. Motion carried.

Mrs. Naile moved, second by Mr. Speith to approve the joint Memorandum of Agreement between the Trico Board of Education and the Trico Teacher’s Association, as presented. Yes: Naile, Speith, Rodewald, Dolce, Blazier, Jones. No: None. Motion carried.

Mrs. Naile moved, second by Mr. Blazier to approve the IHSA membership for the 2022-2023 school year. Yes: Speith, Rodewald, Dolce, Blazier, Naile, Jones. No: None. Motion carried.

Mr. Rodewald moved, second by Mr. Speith to approve the base bid from Richardet Flooring for $72,429. for flooring removal and tile/carpet replacement at both the Trico Elementary School classrooms and the Trico Junior High media center. Yes: Rodewald, Dolce, Blazier, Naile, Speith, Jones. No: None. Motion carried.

Mrs. Naile moved, second by Mr. Rodewald to approve the base bid from Owens Abatement for $30,650. for abatement services in the Trico Junior High School media center. Yes: Dolce, Blazier, Naile, Speith, Rodewald, Jones. No: None. Motion carried.

Mrs. Naile moved, second by Mr. Speith to approve the base bid plus $25,000. alternate for a grinder from ACIX plus fees for service from JT Blankinship, Inc. for $692,294.50 for the replacement of the Trico District wastewater treatment plant. Yes: Blazier, Naile, Speith, Rodewald, Dolce, Jones. No: None. Motion carried. 

Mr. Rodewald moved, second by Mrs. Naile to enter into executive session for discussing the appointment, employment, compensation, discipline or dismissal of specific employees of the district. Yes: Naile, Speith, Rodewald, Dolce, Blazier, Jones. No: None. Motion carried.

Mr. Rodewald moved, second by Mr. Dolce to approve the posting for a Reading Teacher/Interventionist for the 2022-2023 school year. Yes: Rodewald, Dolce, Blazier, Naile, Speith, Jones. No: None. Motion carried.

Mrs. Naile moved, second by Mr. Blazier to approve the posting for a Director of Curriculum and Instruction, 10.5 months (210 days) for the 2022-2023 school year. Salary to be determined. Yes: Dolce, Blazier, Naile, Speith, Rodewald, Jones. No: None. Motion carried.

Mrs. Naile moved, second by Mr. Speith to approve the recommendation to hire Mrs. Brittany Thies as the Trico High School cheer coach for the 2022-2023 season. Yes: Blazier, Naile, Speith, Rodewald, Dolce, Jones. No: None. Motion carried.

Mrs. Naile moved, second by Mr. Rodewald to approve the recommendation to hire Miss Maddie May as the Trico Junior High cheer coach for the 2022-2023 season. Yes: Naile, Speith, Rodewald, Dolce, Blazier, Jones. No: None. Motion carried.

Mr. Speith moved, second by Mr. Rodewald to approve the recommendation to hire Mr. Greg Jones as the Trico Junior High girl’s basketball coach for the 2022-2023 season. Yes: Speith, Rodewald, Dolce, Blazier, Naile. Abstain: Jones.  No: None. Motion carried.

Mr. Rodewald moved, second by Mrs. Naile to approve the recommendation to hire Mr. Allen Nesbit as the Trico High School bowling coach for the 2022-2023 season. Yes: Rodewald, Dolce, Blazier, Naile, Speith, Jones. No: None. Motion carried.

Mrs. Naile moved, second by Mr. Blazier to approve the maternity leave for Mrs. Rebecca Mathis from Augusts 4, 2022 through January 2, 2023 using 6 weeks FMLA leave, sick leave and dock days. Yes: Dolce, Blazier, Naile, Speith, Rodewald, Jones. No: None. Motion carried.

Mr. Blazier moved, second by Mr. Speith to approve the recommendation to hire Mr. Blake Hampleman as a 4th grade teacher at Trico Elementary for the 2022-2023 school year. Yes: Blazier, Naile, Speith, Rodewald, Dolce, Jones. No: None. Motion carried.

Mrs. Naile moved, second by Mr. Rodewald to approve the recommendation to extend the employment of all teachers who have completed 1-3 years of service to the district for the 2022-2023 school year. Yes: Naile, Speith, Rodewald, Dolce, Blazier, Jones. No: None. Motion carried. (see attached list)

Mrs. Naile moved, second by Mr. Rodewald to approve the recommendation to re-employ all teachers who have completed 4 or more years of service to the district for the 2022-2023 school year. Yes: Speith, Rodewald, Dolce, Blazier, Naile, Jones. No: None. Motion carried. (see attached list)

Mr. Speith moved, second by Mrs. Naile to approve a non-referencing one-time stipend from the education fund for the commendable, extra ordinary, “after the bell” supportive efforts, provided to our students and parents during the height of the 2020-21 and 2021-2022 pandemic, as presented. Stipends do not include the Superintendent or Building Principals. Yes: Rodewald, Dolce, Blazier, Naile, Speith, Jones. No: None. Motion carried. (see attached list)
