Report: Herrin School District spent $8,751 per student in 2019-20

Spending per pupil at Herrin Community Unit School District 4 was up 1.9 percent from five years ago, according to the Carbondale Reporter analysis of the latest Illinois schools report card district finances.

The Illinois State Board of Education 2019-20 report card showed the Williamson County school district spent $8,589 per pupil in 2015-16. It spent $8,751 in 2019-20.

The district's enrollment fell from 2,528 to 2,431 students over the same period.

Herrin's spending in 2019-20 was 39.6 percent lower than the state average of $14,492.
