Report: Marion School District spent $8,909 per student in 2019-20

Spending per pupil at Marion Community Unit School District 2 was up 13.9 percent from five years ago, according to the Carbondale Reporter analysis of the latest Illinois schools report card district finances.

The Illinois State Board of Education 2019-20 report card showed the Williamson County school district spent $7,823 per pupil in 2015-16. It spent $8,909 in 2019-20.

The district's enrollment fell from 4,104 to 3,986 students over the same period.

Marion's spending in 2019-20 was 38.5 percent lower than the state average of $14,492.
