Agency Reports

Mueller reported:

Greater Egypt Regional Planning and Development Commission

The Greater Egypt commission met by zoom on April 13, 2021. The executive Director, Cary Minnis reported on the progress in construction of the new building located across the street from the Marion Target. He also reminded the members to bring forward possible grant applications for DRA and EDA.

Southern Illinois Metropolitan Planning Organization

The SIMPO Policy Committee met in person and by zoom on April 12, 2021. The committee discussed HSIP applications for Park Street and Wall Street in Carbondale. The Air Service Feasibility study is complete for the Marion Airport. The study found it would be possible to get nonstop service to Chicago if the airport could set a subsidy to support service. Representative Bost and Senator Durbin may find funding to cover the East College Street culvert project before its 2024 planned construction.

Shawnee Resource Conservation & Development

Shawnee RC & D met by zoom on March 18, 2021. The meeting focused on forest restoration support by invasive species management, prescribed burn events, and forest management to improve bird habitat.

Erbes reported:

United Counties Council of Illinois

No meeting, executive board only. Continuing with plans for the Conference, July 25, 26, 27, 2021. There is an opening for a board position for UCCI and Erbes handed in a resume.

T.C. Mueller reported:

Jackson Growth Alliance

The board added two Committee members. JGA is finalizing the person for executive director, should be final soon. Steve Mitchell will be doing a presentation sometime in May.

A motion was made by J.S. Rendleman and seconded by Calandro to approve the consent agenda with the removal of 21-5952, County By-Law Change "Vice Chair Sentence Structure", motion carries by unanimous vote.

A motion was made by Calandro, seconded by Snyder, to approve the Jackson County Health Department to expend Household Hazardous Waste Funds to Coordinate and Conduct a Household Chemical Collection Event. The motion carried by the following vote:
