Carbondale Chamber of Commerce
The Varsity Center On Carbondale’s Main Street has been a cultural icon at the city’s center for 80 years. The Varsity continues to provide weekly events through this year of uncertainty: hosting musicians for virtual concerts and sidewalk serenades, creating a podcast series and lifting our spirits. Independent theaters throughout the country are currently struggling, and many are at risk of lowering the curtain for the final time. The Varsity is an entertainment and economic anchor institution for the cultural and food businesses on the Strip and City of Carbondale.
Fresh off the successful and inaugural Solarize Southern Illinois group buy campaign, a special extension of the program has been developed that will allow local commercial solar projects to capture this year’s solar incentives and savings. Backed by a generous donation from StraightUp Solar and conditional matching of funds by Solarize Southern Illinois, Carbondale’s small business owners have the opportunity to go solar while helping the Varsity survive the ongoing crisis. Please join us for the Varsity Center Presents the Solarize Southern Illinois Finale!
