Lake Egypt FPD responds to 64 fires in 2018

Lake Egypt Fire Protection District responded to 91 calls in 2018 - 4.6 percent more than the previous year, according to data from the National Fire Incident Reporting System.

The calls in Lake Egypt included 64 fires - 26 structure fires, 18 vehicle fires and 20 other fires. The fire department also responded to one call for ruptures, explosions or overheating.

In all, the department saw $1,156,550 in fire loss - or about $18,071 per fire.

The department also received 26 false calls.

The Lake Egypt Fire Protection District had an annual budget of $1,865,077 in 2018.

The Lake Egypt FPD Firefighters Pension Fund, which has five active employees and retired or inactive employee, was $22,504 positive as of June 2017, according to the fund's mandated filings with the Illinois Department of Insurance. That amounts to $363 for every fire in 2017.
