Williamson County FPD responds to 121 fires in 2018

Williamson County Fire Protection District responded to 144 calls in 2018 - 12.2 percent less than the previous year, according to data from the National Fire Incident Reporting System.

The calls in Williamson County included 121 fires - 67 structure fires, 23 vehicle fires and 31 other fires.

In all, the department saw $1,661,500 in fire loss - or about $13,731 per fire.

The department also received 23 false calls.

The Williamson County Firefighters Pension Fund, which has one active employee and two retired or inactive employees, was $23,398 positive as of December 2017, according to the fund's mandated filings with the Illinois Department of Insurance. That amounts to $173 for every fire in 2017.
