Carbondale Elementary School District #95 Public Relation Committee met Sept. 17.
Here is the minutes provided by the committee:
Role Call
Present: Robby Clark-Stokes, Amy Fox, Angela Watters, Cecile McCarron (CEA Rep.), CarltonSmith, Marilynn Ross, Carla Ehlers, and Stephanie Esters.
Not Present: Bob Davenport, Justin Zurlinden, Jennifer Hartlieb (McCarron covering)
Call to Order & Approvals
The September 17th meeting of the Public Relations Committee was called to order around 4:05 p.m.
The Committee members present approved the agenda as presented.
They also reviewed and approved the minutes from the July 9th meeting.

New Features: Lunch & Breakfast Menus, Bus Schedules, Handbook, Resource List, Strategic Planning (Now a CEC Model!)
Discussion: The committee discussed reaching out to our website provider (School Messenger) to see if we could monitor site traffic with a counter.
Communication Highlights: Facebook, Twitter, Website
Stephanie Esters presented social media highlights from recent months called “CES95 Snapshots”. These highlights included all four buildings and discussed the traffic for each post. Furthermore, she followed up with her future plans to continue to tell “Our Story”.
Mr. Clark-Stokes interjected to praise Ms. Esters’s work and flexibility with principal communication, scheduling, and willingness to react to what she sees at each school and how to translate that to a story.
Carlton Smith discussed the importance of transparency in regards to “Our Story”. His message was that we need to tell the entire story and not paint a picture of all positivity.

Robby Clark-Stokes discussed recent changes to this process as he works to make videos available quickly.

The committee discussed various programs that are unique to our district:

Co-Taught Special Education Classrooms

Amy Fox mentioned that she would reach out to SIH to see if they would have someone that would be willing to join.
Next Meeting: The group set our next meeting for Tuesday, November 12th at 4pm.
