Herrin Community Unit School District 4 Board met Oct. 23.

Here is the minutes provided by the board:

Mr. Dave Loucks - Presiding Officer

ROLL CALL: Those answering roll call were Mrs. Woodcock, Mrs. Etherton, Mr. Loucks, Mr. Kay, Mrs. Green, and Mr. Young, and Mr. Collins

VISITOR PARTICIPATION: None at this time.

REQUEST FOR EXECUTIVE SESSION:

Mrs. Green made a motion, seconded by Mr. Kay to close the meeting in accordance with Section 120/2(a) of the Open Meetings Act, citing the following exceptions as contained in Section 120/2(c):

A. Discuss Student Disciplinary Case(s) 

All members present voted yea.

A) DISCUSS STUDENT DISCIPLINARY CASE(S)

1. Discuss Student Disciplinary Case – Mr. Kay made a motion, seconded by Mrs. Green to expel student A.C.B. from Herrin School District No. 4, effective Thursday, October 24, 2019, through the 2019-2020 and 2020-2021 school year, with possible reinstatement for the 2020-2021 school year, pending Board approval. During this time the student is not allowed on any Herrin Unit No. 4 properties. All members present voted yea.

2. Discuss Student Disciplinary Case – Mr. Kay made a motion, seconded by Mrs. Green to expel student A.J.B. from Herrin School District No. 4, effective Thursday, October 24, 2019, through the 2019-2020 and 2020-2021 school year, with possible reinstatement for the 2020-2021 school year, pending Board approval. During this time the student is not allowed on any Herrin Unit No. 4 properties. All members present voted yea.

ADJOURNMENT: Having completed items on the agenda, Mr. Kay made a motion, seconded by Mrs. Woodcock to adjourn until the next meeting of the Board of Education scheduled for Thursday, November 21, 2019, at 5:00 p.m., in the Unit Office Conference Room, 500 North Tenth Street, Herrin, IL 62948. All members present voted yea.
