Carbondale Non-Bargaining Unit Employees Personnel Board recently issued the following announcement.
The Carbondale Warming Center will open at 8 p.m. on December 1, 2019. Organizers say their mission is to provide nighttime sleeping space on cold nights as a supplement to the city’s existing shelter system.
The after-hours center is open to everyone and will be open every night from 8 p.m. to 8 a.m. until mid-March.
Upgrades were made this year to better sanitary conditions and strengthen security.
The center changed locations and is now located at 608 East College Street.
A media tour of the 20-bed warming center will be offered Sunday, December 1 at 6 p.m.
The center is in need of volunteers. If you are interested, visit www.carbondalewarmingcenter.weebly.com.
