Johnston City Community Unit School District 1 Board met July 18.

Here is the minutes provided by the board:

ROLL CALL

Present: Chad Barras, Jimmy Dean, John Etherton, Patti Martin, Greg Smiley, Keven Stroud, and Chris Cullum,

Absent: None

Motion made by Jimmy Dean and seconded by Chad Barras to approve the consent agenda consisting of the following:

A. Approval of the Regular and Closed Session and Minutes of the 6/19/19 Regular Meeting

B. Approve Destruction of Closed Session tapes listed below in Accordance with 5 ILCS 120/2.6c 7/17/17, 8/14/17, 9/1/17 (special meeting), 9/18/17, 10/16/17 (special meeting), 10/16/17, 11/13/17, 11/29/17 (special meeting), and 12/18/17.

C. Approval of Treasurer’s Report

D. Approval of Bills for Payment

E. Reaffirm Serious Safety Hazard Areas for Transportation

Voting Aye: Barras, Dean, Etherton, Martin, Smiley, Stroud, and Cullum

Motion Carried.

Motion made by Keven Stroud and seconded by Greg Smiley to approve the District Wide Insurance as presented.

Voting Aye: Barras, Dean, Etherton, Martin, Smiley, Stroud, and Cullum

Motion Carried.

The first reading of the IASB PRESS Policy updates was held.

Motion made by Jimmy Dean and seconded by Keven Stroud to declare items as surplus as presented.

Voting Aye: Barras, Dean, Etherton, Martin, Smiley, Stroud, and Cullum

Motion Carried.

Motion made by Chad Barras and seconded by John Etherton to approve the Futiva Easement at Jefferson School.

Voting Aye: Barras, Dean, Etherton, Martin, Smiley, Stroud, and Cullum Motion Carried.

Motion made by Jimmy Dean and seconded by Patti Martin to approve the High School Handbook change as presented.

Voting Aye: Barras, Dean, Etherton, Martin, Smiley, Stroud, and Cullum Motion Carried.

Motion made by Keven Stroud and seconded by Greg Smiley to accept the resignation of Whitney Montgomery as a Jefferson School Morning Duty Aide.

Voting Aye: Barras, Dean, Etherton, Martin, Smiley, Stroud, and Cullum Motion Carried.

Motion made by Chad Barras and seconded by Patti Martin to employ Jinna Glasco as a Jefferson School Morning Duty Aide.

Voting Aye: Barras, Dean, Etherton, Martin, Smiley, Stroud, and Cullum Motion Carried.

Motion made by Keven Stroud and seconded by Patti Martin to employ Kelly Dover and April Malone as ESSA Aides.

Voting Aye: Barras, Dean, Etherton, Martin, Smiley, Stroud, and Cullum Motion Carried.

Motion made by Chad Barras and seconded by Keven Stroud to employ Courtney Crabtree and Kelly Davis as Kindergarten Aides.

Voting Aye: Barras, Dean, Etherton, Martin, Smiley, Stroud, and Cullum Motion Carried.

Motion made by Jimmy Dean and seconded by Patti Martin to employ Bobby Lakotich as the Director of Maintenance, Buildings, and Grounds.

Voting Aye: Barras, Dean, Etherton, Martin, Smiley, Stroud, and Cullum Motion Carried.

Motion made by Chad Barras and seconded by Keven Stroud to set administrative, non- certified, and non-contractual staff raises as presented.

Voting Aye: Barras, Dean, Etherton, Martin, Smiley, Stroud, and Cullum Motion Carried.

Motion made by Keven Stroud and seconded by John Etherton to approve the contract addendum for Lori Linton, Director of Finance and Accounting.

Voting Aye: Barras, Dean, Etherton, Martin, Smiley, Stroud, and Cullum Motion Carried.

Mrs. Clark briefed the Board on things going on during the upcoming school year.

 A meet and greet for new employees has been tentatively set for August 6th.

 The District’s annual audit will start on August 12th.

 First day of student attendance will be August 14th.
