Carbondale Senior Fair draws big crowd

Schimpf

Wednesday's Carbondale Senior Fair saw its highest attendance in five years, according to State Sen. Paul Schimpf (R-Waterloo).

Schimpf, who joined State Sen. Dale Fowler, State Rep. Terri Bryant and State. Rep. Patrick Windhorst in hosting the event at the Carbondale Civic Center, celebrated the high turnout in a Facebook post following the fair.

"Huge turnout at our Carbondale Senior Fair this morning -- the highest I've seen in five years," noted Schimpf in the post.

Schimpf also shared his thanks with the vendors and others who helped make this year's fair a success, along with a photo of himself greeting fair attendees.

In addition to offering local seniors the chance to meet their state legislators, the event included free health screenings, free massages, free refreshments and opportunities for assistance with state government and legislative issues.
