Trico Community Unit School District 176 Board met March 18.

Here is the minutes as provided by the board:

Board President, Mrs. Lois Jones called the regular meeting of the Trico Board of Education in the Trico Media Center at 6:30 pm. Members present were Mr. Gerald Speith, Mr. Dan Carson, Mrs. Stephanie King, Mr. Robert Kranawetter, Mrs. Jaime Lodge, and President Lois Jones. Absent: Mr. Brian Thies


Mrs. King moved, second by Mr. Carson to approve the following Consent Agenda:

     1. Approve minutes for February 18, 2019 special board meeting

     2. Approve minutes for February 18, 2019 regular board meeting

     3. Approve bills for the month of March 2019

     4. Approve activity fund report for February 2019

     5. Approve monthly financial statement for February 2019

     6. Approve substitute list and totals for February 2019

     7. Approve monthly enrollment for February 2019

     8. Approve monthly student discipline report for February 2019

Mrs. Lodge moved, second by Mr. Carson to approve the recommendation that the high school registration fee be increased to $70.00 for the 2019-2020 school year. Yes: Carson, King, Kranawetter, Lodge, Speith, Jones. No: None. Motion carried.

Mrs. King moved, second by Mr. Carson to approve to remove the $5.00 multi-child discount from the District registration process for the 2019-2020 school year. Yes: King, Kranawetter, Lodge, Speith, Carson, Jones. No: None. Motion carried.

Mrs. King moved, second by Mr. Kranawetter to remove the class fees for District Art and Science labs. Yes: Kranawetter, Lodge, Speith, Carson, King, Jones. No: None. Motion carried.

Mr. Kranawetter moved, second by Mr. Speith to approve the breakfast and lunch prices, admission fees and all other listed fees as presented for the 2029-2020 school year. Yes: Lodge, Speith, Carson, King, Kranawetter, Jones. No: None. Motion carried.

Mr. Carson moved, second by Mrs. King to approve the bid from Litton Enterprises Inc. for the high school gymnasium and junior high HVAC systems in the amount of $891,332.00 plus $229,466.00 to Baysinger for fee and contingency for a total of $ 1,120,798.40. Yes: Speith, Carson, King, Kranawetter, Lodge, Jones. No: None. Motion carried.

Mrs. Lodge moved, second by Mrs. King to approve the resolution authorizing the issue of not to exceed $2,500,000 general obligation alternate revenue bonds for school facility capital project purposes with Kings Financial Consulting Inc. Yes: Carson, King, Kranawetter, Lodge, Speith, Jones. No: None. Motion carried.

Mr. Kranawetter moved, second by Mrs. King to approve the IHSA membership for the 2019-2020 school year. Yes: King, Kranawetter, Lodge, Speith, Carson, Jones. No: None. Motion carried.

Mrs. King moved, second by Mr. Kranawetter to approve the final reading of the proposed Board Policy language 7:190 #22 regarding the need to explicitly outline District expectations for capturing live images by Trico students while in school, on school grounds or in school vehicles. Yes: Kranawetter, Lodge, Speith, Carson, King, Jones. No: None. Motion carried.

Mrs. King moved, second by Mr. Speith to approve the Intergovernmental Agreement with Jackson/Perry Regional Delivery System EFE540. Yes: Lodge, Speith, Carson, King, Kranawetter, Jones. No: None. Motion carried.

Mrs. Lodge moved, second by Mrs. King to approve the purchase of a new transportation program in the amount of $11, 295.00 from Trans-Finder. Yes: Speith, Carson, King, Kranawetter, Lodge, Jones. No: None. Motion carried.

Mr. Speith moved, second by Mrs. King to approve for Korey Bunselmeyer and Mr. Jason Huseman to travel to Champaign, IL on March 22 & 23, 2019 for the State FFA Awards Day. Expenses will be shared between the school district and the FFA alumni organization. Yes: Carson, King Kranawetter, Lodge, Speith, Jones. No: None. Motion carried.

Mrs. Lodge moved, second by Mr. Speith to approve the Trico Project Graduation committee to use school district buses and drivers to transport the senior class and chaperones to Incredible Pizza in St. Louis on May 17, 2019, leaving at 10 p.m. and returning on May 18, 2019 at 7 a.m. Yes: King, Kranawetter, Lodge, Speith, Carson, Jones. No: None. Motion carried.

Mr. Speith moved, second by Mr. Carson to approve the proposal from J & S Mowing Service for the 2019-2020 lawn care. Yes: Kranawetter, Lodge, Speith, Carson, King, Jones. No: None. Motion carried.

Mrs. Lodge moved, second by Mrs. King to go into executive session to consider information regarding collective bargaining matters, the appointment, employment, compensation, discipline, performance or dismissal of specific employees. Yes: Lodge, Speith, Carson, King, Kranawetter, Jones. No: None. Motion carried.

Mrs. Lodge moved, second by Mr. Carson to hire Mrs. Penny Richelman for the posted high school special education teaching position for the 2019-2020 school year and honoring her past K-12 teaching experience in Illinois and Missouri. Yes: Carson, King, Kranawetter, Lodge, Speith, Jones. No: None. Motion carried.

Mr. Kranawetter moved, second by Mrs. King to hire Mrs. Keila Tuttle for the posted elementary school special education teaching position for the 2019-2020 school year with the understanding that past years of experience in a Pre-K setting will not be applied to the teacher salary schedule placement. Yes: King, Kranawetter, Lodge, Speith, Carson, Jones. No: None. Motion carried.

Mrs. King moved, second by Mrs. Lodge to approve to transition Mrs. Candace Pierce from a temporary part-time classroom aide to a temporary full-time EOC aide until May 24, 2019 as the position of the 3 hour position and the full-time temporary EOC aide position will no longer be needed after the end of the 2018-2019 school year. Yes: Kranawetter, Lodge, Speith, Carson, King, Jones. No: None. Motion carried.

Mr. Carson moved, second by Mrs. King to re-hire Mr. Mark Riley as Trico High School Principal for the 2019-2020 school year. Yes: Lodge, Speith, Carson, King, Kranawetter, Jones. No: None. Motion carried.

Mrs. Lodge moved, second by Mrs. King to re-hire Mr. Ron Coleman as Trico Junior High Principal and District Transportation Director for the 2019-2020 school year. Yes: Speith, Carson, King, Kranawetter, Lodge, Jones. No: None. Motion carried.

Mrs. King moved, second by Mr. Kranawetter to re-hire Mrs. Jenny Wilson as Trico Elementary Principal for the 2019-2020 school year. Yes: Carson, King, Kranawetter, Lodge, Speith, Jones. No: None. Motion carried.

Mrs. Lodge moved, second by Mr. Speith to accept the revised letter of resignation from Ms. Tara Landers effective March 8, 2019. Yes: King, Kranawetter, Lodge, Speith, Carson, Jones. No: None. Motion carried.

Mrs. King moved, second by Mr. Carson to rehire all statutorily granted tenured teachers for the 2019- 2020 school year. Yes: Kranawetter, Lodge, Speith, Carson, King, Jones. No: None. Motion carried.

Mr. Carson moved, second by Mrs. King to renew the following probationary teache’rs contracts for the 2019-2020 school year: Tyler Coleman, Sarah Roth, Kaitlyn Lacy, Matt Juergemeier, Ashley Anderson, Jerry Ohlau, Deanna Bowlin, Ashley James, Laura Goetting, Anna Sunderlage, Lindsay Surman, Dana Yates, Andrea Blazier, Kellie Dillow, Kyle Quigley.
