Carbondale Non-Bargaining Unit Employees Personnel Board recently issued the following announcement.
The Carbondale Fire Department and the American Red Cross are teaming up to put smoke alarms in Carbondale homes.
The goal of the Home Fire Campaign is to reduce the number of fire-related deaths and injuries, one home at a time.
Free smoke alarm installations and home fire preparedness education sessions will take place on Saturday, May 11 from 11 a.m.-3 p.m. To sign up for a 20-minute home visit, visit https://goo.gl/forms/0eNY1kvuqhWOqUZ52 or call (573) 335-9471, ext. 1310.
Each year, the Red Cross responds to an average of more than 62,000 disasters, the vast majority of which are home fires. Seven people die every day from a home fire, most impacting children and the elderly.
