The price of local government in 2017: Village of Energy

The Village of Energy budget was $1.74 million for its 2017 fiscal year, or $4,406 per household.

That's an increase of nine percent from 2016, when the village spent $1.59 million, or $4,044 per household.

Energy has 394 households and a population of 1,142.

Since 2001, the Village of Energy budget has fallen by 27.4 percent, from $2.39 million. The village population has grown 3.3 percent over the same period, from 1,106.

Salaries accounted for 21.9 percent of village spending in 2017. Energy property taxpayers paid $381,026 for seven full-time employees and 12 part-time employees.

In 2001, the village had 17 full-time employees and 13 part-time employees, and spent $309,860.
