Report: Carbondale spent $15,354 per student in 2017-18

Spending per pupil at Carbondale Community High School District 165 is up 10.7 percent from five years ago, according to a Carbondale Reporter analysis of district finances.

The Illinois State Board of Education 2017-18 report card shows the Jackson County school district spent $13,866 per pupil in 2013-14. It spent $15,354 in 2017-18.

The district saw its enrollment fall over the same period, from 1066 to 1009.

Carbondale's spending in 2017-18 was 15.1 percent higher than the state average of $13,337.
