Extra Help, Inc.recently issued the following announcement.

With 2018 coming to a close, it is a time to reflect on the #HireLevelDifference campaign and what it has accomplished. Through the efforts of the HireLevel team, the company was able to donate over $17,500 to charitable organizations that are meaningful to them, such as women’s centers, animal shelters, and other community resource centers. Of that amount, $1,515 was raised for HireLevel’s December giving challenge and given to Turning Point Life Center’s Little Blessings program. This faith-based organization, located in New Castle, Indiana, works diligently to make sure the children in their community have their needs fulfilled.

“There is a lot to Little Blessings,” said Kimberly DeTar, the secretary of the organization, when asked to describe how it functions. She talked about Blessing Bags, which include food items, clothing, or toiletries for children and families in need. “We give the weekly bags with 5-7 items every Friday for the kids to take home…around 1200 bags a week during school year.” The goal of Blessing Bags is to make sure that children have something to eat over the weekend during the school year. Over the summer, Little Blessings teams up with the school system to host a summer feeding program so that kids can have lunch when they don’t have access to a school cafeteria throughout the week. The summer feeding program also includes activities for the children to do and sends them home with food for their families on Fridays. It is estimated that 100 children attend the summer feeding program each day.

Aside from Blessing Bags, Little Blessings also holds an annual golf outing, gives out gifts and scholarships for high school students, and has volunteer opportunities for troubled youth or those in need of volunteer hours. They also run Girls of Promise, a group that provides young girls with fellowship, service projects, life lessons, and fun activities. For the holidays, Little Blessings host Christmas parties in both New Castle and Knightstown, providing every child in attendance with a present, a book, and a full meal. The organization also supplies food baskets to families in need for Easter and Thanksgiving.

The Little Blessings program runs on donations, a Bike Ride event, and grant money, but is continuing to grow and give children the things that they need. As such, HireLevel would ask that readers consider donating or volunteering with the program. Monetary donations or a donation of items for the Necessities Pantry, such as toilet paper, shampoo, toothpaste, toothbrushes, underwear, socks, or any other necessities (for both the children and their parents). “No child should have to go hungry or not have basic needs met,” said Terri Pyle, director of Little Blessings. “They cannot control what their parents do or do not do for them. Please consider helping us to put at least a dent in the need these children have.”
