AFRICAN AMERICAN MUSEUM OF SOUTHERN ILLINOIS: Go-To Thanksgiving Day Style for Kids

Children education

African American Museum of Southern Illinois recently issued the following announcement.

It’s the first major holiday of the season and a perfect opportunity to show up in style! Whether you want the kids in something dressy or you prefer to keep things more casual, you have endless options on creating the ideal Thanksgiving Day look. Head to the mall and pick up some of these comfortable options.

Casual Dresses for Girls

Thanksgiving Day is a fun opportunity to wear something a bit more whimsical and on theme for the holiday. Thanksgiving-inspired casual dresses make it easy to dress girls of all ages – look for knit dresses in colors like pumpkin, brown or cream, or for the younger set, shop for dresses with fun patterns: fall florals, pumpkins or even paisley print work well.

Bowties and Cardigans

It’s adorable when boys are dressed up for celebrations and Thanksgiving Day is no exception! The perfect holiday look is a pair of khakis with a patterned shirt, bowtie and cardigan – each of the pieces can be worn multiple times but easily come together for the ideal Thanksgiving look.

Matching Looks

To make dressing up a little easier for the whole family, try sticking to a specific color palette. Go for something chic and stylish! Colorful flannel is a great option – girls can wear a flannel dress, or a colorful button-down top with a tulle or denim skirt. Boys can match by opting for a polo or cardigan with the same colors and pair with khakis for a casual but polished look. Wearing complementary colors and pieces results in a very put-together family fashion statement.

Colored Chinos

If your kids are a bit older and don’t want to dress up, infuse a little fun into the holiday by shopping for colored pants! Classy enough for your kids to wear to dinner, but casual enough for them to still be able to play outside, colored chinos are the perfect pants for Thanksgiving Day festivities. Warm autumn hues like rusty red and mustard yellow are especially in style. Pair them with a knit sweater and leather or suede shoes

There are plenty of ways to dress for comfort and style on Thanksgiving – have fun and get ready for some festive outfits!
