Carbondale Chamber of Commerce recently issued the following announcement.

AES Solar and the Carbondale Chamber of Commerce invite local media, businesses, and faith communities to attend a ribbon cutting on Friday, October 5th, 2018, 11 AM, at Gaia House Interfaith Center, 913 S. Illinois Ave., Carbondale, IL. This ceremony commemorates the commissioning of a new solar power system, donated and installed by AES Solar. Light refreshments will be served.

The installation was part of a Hands-on Solar Installation course through John A. Logan College, and was performed by John A. Logan students and AES Solar staff last June during the 19th anniversary of AES Solar’s incorporation.

AES Solar, now located in Carterville, IL, was founded in 1999 by Aur Beck. As part of his Native American culture of giving on a birthday, Beck decided to donate the materials and labor. “After 19 years of installing solar, I’m excited to see more professional installers coming to the area,” says Beck.

The following Saturday, October 6th, from 10AM to 3PM, Gaia House will also be holding an open house to show off the new solar power system to the public as part of the Heartland Solar Tour, an annual showcase of homes and businesses throughout Southern Illinois that utilize renewable energy. More information about the tour, including additional tour stops, can be found at heartlandsolartour.org.
