Carbondale Chamber of Commerce recently issued the following announcement.
The City of Carbondale is excited to introduce free Wi-Fi to residents and visitors in downtown Carbondale.
Wi-Fi is available along Illinois Avenue between the Town Square Pavilion and Friendship Plaza. To connect your handheld device, go to settings, Wi-Fi and select the “City of Carbondale Free Wi-Fi” network. No password is required.
“We are excited to be able to offer this service to our downtown visitors. While we don’t expect free Wi-Fi to draw new businesses and growth on its own, it acts as a public amenity for residents and students, supporting greater activity.” said Economic Development Director Steven Mitchell.
Members of the media are asked to contact Public Relations Officer Amy Fox at (618) 559-1939 for additional information.
“Carbondale prides itself on providing its visitors, students, businesses and residents with a unique mix of edge and ease. It’s a cultural town, yet free of pretense, embracing the great outdoors as readily as urban sophistication. Here, we are open to new ideas, experiences and cultures, so you are encouraged to both express yourself and be yourself, in all ways. That’s Carbondale…All Ways Open… for family, fun, business, new ideas and a bright tomorrow.”
