Trico Community Unit School District 176 students suspended 75 times in a single school year

Trico Community Unit School District 176 reported 75 suspensions for 2016-17, according to the latest student discipline report by the Illinois State Board of Education.

According to the report, the district expelled or suspended 75 students during the year. That equates to 7.5 percent of the 994 students enrolled.

The district reported that most in-school suspensions were given for unspecified reasons. The category includes 17 incidents. There were seven incidents of violence without physical injury. For 16 incidents, students were suspended for a day or less.

Of the 49 out-of-school suspensions, including 27 elementary or middle schoolers and 22 high schoolers.

The district reported that most out-of-school suspensions were given for unspecified reasons. The category includes 25 incidents. There were 21 incidents of violence without physical injury. For 25 incidents, students were suspended for 1-3 days.
