The Board of Education of the Johnston City Community Unit School District No. 1 met at a regular Board meeting held on July 16, 2018 with Closed Session beginning at 6:30 p.m. and the regular meeting beginning at 7:10 p.m. at the Unit Office, 200 E. 12th Street, Johnston City, IL. President Chris Cullum called the meeting to order and asked the clerk for the attendance roll call.

Motion made by Randy Brymer and seconded by Keven Stroud to approve the consent agenda consisting of the following:
A. Approval of the Regular and Closed Session minutes of the June 18, 2018 regular meeting;
B. Approval of the Treasurer’s Report;
C. Approval of the Bills for Payment;
D. Reaffirm Serious Safety Hazard Areas for Transportation.

Mrs. Clark informed the Board that we have received our ESSA Accountability Report and Washington Middle School has been tagged as a subgroup. However, we have not received information as to which subgroup the building fell into for the accountability. Washington Middle School will have four (4) years to get out of the status. The final report will come out in October and should provide the information as to which subgroup Washington School has been placed.
Mrs. Clark also informed the Board that the detachment case has concluded and the ruling has been in favor of the District.
Mrs. Clark briefed the Board on things going on during the upcoming school year.
Johnston City High School will have a foreign exchange student from Taiwan.
Washington Middle School will continue to receive Joe Castrale funds.
The district has a Resilient SI one (1) year action plan in place.
The Williamson County Sheriff’s office in conjunction with the District has applied for a Department of Justice grant for schools to work with law enforcement to provide additional security updates to the buildings.
A meet and greet for new employees has been tentatively set for August 7th
