Elverado Community Consolidated School District 196 Board of Education met June 7.

Here is the minutes provided by the Board:

The meeting was called to order at 6:00 p.m. by Mr. Schafer.

1.Member attendance: Mr. Bernardini, absent; Mr. Funk, present; Mrs. Jeschke, absent; Mr. Keith, absent; Mr. Schafer, present; Mrs. Sherman, present; Mr. Wisely, present. Others in attendance: Superintendent, Kevin Spain; Principals, Jeremy Pierce and Belinda Conner; Cheryal Jones, Wayne Tuthill and Jason Buser.

2.A motion was made by Mr. Wisely and seconded by Mr. Funk to adjourn to executive session to discuss: The appointment, employment, compensation, discipline, performance, or dismissal of specific employees of the public body or legal counsel for the public body. The selection of a person to fill a vacant seat for the public office. Upon Roll Call Vote, Board Members voted as follows: Funk, yes; Schafer, yes; Sherman, yes; Wisely, yes. Motion Carried. Motion was made by Brandon Funk and seconded by Mark Wisely to return to open session. All board members voted in favor, Motion carried. Board returned to open session at 6:42pm.

3. Action after executive session.

3.1 A motion was made by Mrs. Sherman and seconded by Mr. Funk to employee Tiffany Morris as EJHS Science teacher at MS+OStep 3 pending completion of all of the employment requirements. Board Members voted as follows: Schafer, yes; Sherman, yes; Wisely, yes; Funk, yes. Motion Carried.

3.2 A motion was made by Mr. Funk and seconded by Mrs. Sherman to employee Jamie Wildermuth as Title Reading Teacher at MS+OStep3 pending completion of all employment requirements. Board Members voted as follows: Sherman, yes; Wisely, yes; Funk, yes Schafer, yes. Motion Carried.

3.3 A motion was made by Mr. Wisely and seconded by Mr. Schafer to employee Jacob Emling as EJHS softball coach. Board Members voted as follows: Wisely, yes; Funk, yes Schafer, yes; Sherman, yes. Motion Carried.

3.4 A motion was made by Mr. Schafer and seconded by Mr. Wisely to employee Tomi Hamlin and Brittany Valdez as EJHS CO-Sponsors. Board Members voted as follows: Schafer, yes; Sherman, yes; Wisely, yes; Funk, yes. Motion carried.

3.5 A motion was made by Mr. Wisely and seconded by Mr. Funk to employee Kristin Meyers as Speech Language pathologist at MS+0 Step 0. Board Members voted as follows: Sherman, yes: Wisely, yes Funk, yes; Schafer, yes. Motion Carried.

3.6 A motion was made by Mr. Schafer and seconded by Mr. Wisely to reclassify Belinda Conner from EIS/EJHS principal to Director of Instructional Services. Board Members voted as follows: Wisely, yes Funk, yes; Schafer, yes; Sherman, yes: Motion Carried.

3.7 A motion was made by Mrs. Sherman and seconded by Mr. Funk to appoint Jason Buser, having met all residency requirements to fill the vacant seat on the Elverado CUSD 196 Board of Education. Board Members voted as follows: Funk, yes; Schafer, yes; Sherman, yes; Wisely, yes. Motion Carried.

4. Visitors and Comments: Mrs. Conner announces that she has been awarded the Gear up Grant of $20,000 for 6th 7th and 8th grade. Will look into new tables, etc. for the computer lab.

Mr. Schafer would like to look into grants for after school programs.

Mr. Schafer commends Mr. Pierce and Danielle for all of the hard work they put in to get all of the scholarships put together for the graduating seniors this year.

5. Adjournment

A motion was made by Mr. Wisely and seconded by Mr. Funk to adjourn at 6:58 pm with the next regular meeting scheduled at 6:00pm on June 21st, 2018.

All attending Board Members in favor, and voted “yea' Motion Carried.
