Williamson County FPD responds to 110 fires in 2017

Williamson County Fire Protection District responded to 135 calls in 2017 - 2.2 percent less than the previous year, according to data from the National Fire Incident Reporting System.

The calls in Williamson County included 110 fires - 44 structure fires, 18 vehicle fires and 48 other fires. The fire department also responded to two calls for ruptures, explosions or overheating.

In all, the department saw $730,250 in fire loss - or about $6,639 per fire.

The department also received 23 false calls.

The calls resulted in one civilian fire-related death.

The Williamson County Firefighters Pension Fund, which has four active employees and two retired or inactive employees, was $6,745 positive as of December 2016, according to the fund's mandated filings with the Illinois Department of Insurance. That amounts to $64 for every fire in 2016.
