Carbondale FD responds to 111 fires in 2017

Carbondale Fire Department responded to 720 calls in 2017 - 15.8 percent more than the previous year, according to data from the National Fire Incident Reporting System.

The calls in Carbondale included 111 fires - 51 structure fires, eight vehicle fires and 52 other fires. The fire department also responded to four calls for ruptures, explosions or overheating.

In all, the department saw $325,189 in fire loss - or about $2,930 per fire.

The department also received 605 false calls, including 119 malicious calls and 486 other false calls.

The calls resulted in four civilian fire-related injuries. Additionally, four fire service members were injured in fire-related incidents.
