City of Carbondale Human Relations Commission met March 5.

Call To Order

The meeting was called to order at 5:23p.m. by Chair Hennrich.

Minutes

Approval of February 5, 2018 and March 5, 2018 Meeting Minutes.

Announcement

Commissioner Hennrich mentioned preparing the Annual Report Letter to the Carbondale Police Department and the Illinois State Police for April 2018.

Commissioner Weaver announced that on April 13, 2018 the Catholic Campaign for Human Development will be meeting.

Scott Martin mentioned the documentary screening of Walking While Black: L.o.v.e. Is The Answer Film to the Human Relations Commission.

Chair Hennrich announced that a guest speaker from the Southern Illinois Coalition for the Homeless will be speaking to the Human Relations Commission on April 2, 2018.

Elius Reed mentioned the February 17, 2018 Southern Illinoisan articles regarding local events in Carbondale and the February 20th announcement of SIUC ranking in Illinois.

Commissioner Gutierrez announced that the Carbondale Chamber of Commerce are currently advertising the Executive Director position.

Commissioner Gutierrez announced that on April 11, 2018 is Illinois Chamber Day in Springfield, Illinois beginning at 9a.m. to 11a.m. located at The Greater Springfield Chamber of Commerce.

Carbondale was the most underrated city in Illinois.

Elius Reed mentioned the demographic breakdown of the Carbondale District 95 and how District 95 instructors should have additional diversity training.
