Marion Chamber of Commerce recently issued the following announcement.
All veterans from Southern Illinois are invited to march or ride with Units from the Army, Navy, Marines, Air Force, Coast Guard, National Guard, VFW, American Legion, AMVETS and DAV organizations including ROTC and High School bands.
Those vets wishing to ride should meet at the VA Hospital at 9 a.m.
Those vets wishing to march should meet at the Marion Junior High School at 9 a.m.
The parade will begin promptly at 10 a.m. from the Marion Junior High School and march east on Main Street to the Tower Square where a memorial ceremony will be held to honor those who paid the ultimate sacrifice. The parade will continue east and end at Washington Elementary School.
We are looking for Iraqi and Afghanistan vets along with Honor Flight veterans so they can be honored as well.
Special salute to area's first responders Gold Star Mothers - Honorary Grand Marshals and special guest participants.
