Trico Community Unit School District 176 Board met April 16.

Here is the minutes provided by the Board:

Board President, Mrs. Lois Jones called the regular meeting of the Trico Board of Education in the Trico Media Center at 6:30 pm. Members present were Mr. Gerald Speith, Mr. Dan Carson, Mrs. Stephanie King, Mrs. Jaime Lodge, Mr. Brian Thies and President Lois Jones. Absent: Mr. Matt Bernaix

Mrs. Lodge moved, second by Mr. Speith to approve the following Consent Agenda:

Approve minutes for regular board meeting on March 19, 2018

3. Approve bills for the month of April 2018

4. Approve activity fund for the month of March 2018

5. Approve monthly financial statement for March 2018

6. Approve substitute list for March 2018

7. Approve monthly enrollment totals for March 2018

8. Approve the student discipline report for March 2018

Mr. Thies moved, second by Mr. Carson to approve the request from Trico Education Association to submit a waiver to the Illinois State General Assembly to allow the children of all full-time employees, who live outside of the district, be allowed to attend Trico Schools tuition free. Mrs. King moved, second by Mrs. Lodge to approve the intergovernmental agreement with the Regional Office of Education Project SOAR for the 2018-2019 school year. Yes: King, Lodge, Thies, Speith, Carson, Jones. No: None. Motion carried.

Mr. Thies moved, second by Mrs. Lodge to approve the intergovernmental agreement with the Regional Office of Education COPE Alternative School for the 2018-2019 school year. Yes: Lodge, Thies, Speith, Carson, King, Jones. No: None. Motion carried.

Mrs. King moved, second by Mr. Carson to approve the Class of 2018 Project Graduation to use 1 regular bus and the large white activity bus to transport students and chaperones to St. Louis on Sunday, May 20-21, 2018. Yes: Thies, Speith, Carson, King, Lodge, Jones. No: None. Motion carried.

Mrs. King moved, second by Mr. Thies to approve the 2018-2019 school calendar as presented to the board. Yes: Speith, Carson, King, Lodge, Thies, Jones. No: None. Motion carried.

Mrs. Lodge moved, second by Mr. Thies to approve the registration, athletic and classroom fees for the 2018-2019 schoolyear as presented to the board. Yes: Carson, King, Lodge, Thies, Speith, Jones. No: None. Motion carried.

Mr. Carson moved, second by Mr. Speith to approve the final reading of the Trico School District #176 Board Policies: 2:150 Board Standing Committees, 2:260 Uniform Grievance Procedure, 4:40 Incurring Debit, 5:20 Workplace Harassment Prohibited, 5:17 Copyright. Yes: King, Lodge, Thies, Speith, Carson, Jones. No: None. Motion carried.

Mr. Carson moved, second by Mr. Speith to approve substitute rate of pay be increased to $100 for a full day and $50 for a ½ day for the 2018-2019 school year. Yes: Lodge, Thies, Speith, Carson, King, Jones. No: None. Motion carried.

Mrs. Lodge moved, second by Mrs. King to approve the 2018 summer camps as presented to the board; Basketball/May 29-June 1, Baseball/June 4-7, Softball/June 11-14, Band/July 23-27, Volleyball/June 3-6, 2018. Yes: Thies, Speith, Carson, King, Lodge, Jones. No: None. Motion carried.

Mr. Thies moved, second by Mrs. King to approve the Dan Sowu Basketball camp to be hosted at the Trico School District on June 18-22, 2018. This camp is not directly associated with the Trico School District and a facility use agreement will be required. Yes: Speith, Carson, King, Lodge, Thies, Jones. No: None. Motion carried.

Mr. Carson moved, second by Mr. Thies to approve that Mr. Ken King be able to collaborate with GRP Performance Contracting, from Bethalto, IL to determine building and maintenance needs and to explore options regarding addressing those identified facility needs at the elementary, junior high and high school. Yes: Carson, King, Lodge, Thies, Speith, Jones. No: None. Motion carried.

Mr. Speith moved, second by Mr. Thies to hire Mrs. Deanna Bowlin for the posted position of fifth grade teacher for the 2018-2019 school year. Yes: King, Lodge, Thies, Speith, Carson, Jones. No: None. Motion carried

Mrs. Lodge moved, second by Mr. Speith to hire Mrs. Rebecca Krause for the posted positon of full time art teacher for the 2018-2019 school year. Yes: Lodge, Thies, Speith, King, Jones. No: None. Abstain: Carson. Motion carried.

Mr. Thies moved, second by Mr. Carson to approve the honorable dismissal of Mr. Andrew Wilson from the positon of head boy’s basketball coach effective Tuesday, April 17, 2018. Yes: Thies, Speith, Carson, King, Lodge, Jones. No: None. Motion carried.

Mrs. Lodge moved, second by Mr. Thies to approve Mrs. Brittany Thies for the posted position of junior high cheer coach for the 2018-2019 school year. Yes: Speith, Carson, King, Lodge, Thies, Jones. No: None. Motion carried.

Mr. Thies moved, second by Mrs. King to approve the reduction of a special education classroom at Trico Elementary for the 2018-2019 school year until such time student enrollments warrant the need for the position. Yes: Lodge, Thies, Speith, Carson, King, Jones. No: None. Motion carried.
