City of Carbondale Human Relations Commission met Dec. 4.

CALL TO ORDER
The meeting was called to order at 5:07p.m. by Chair Hennrich.
MINUTES
Motion was made by Commissioner Joseph Brown and seconded by Commissioner Weaver to approve the minutes from the November 6, 2017 meeting. Motion carried. All Voted Aye. Corrections:
ANNOUNCEMENT
Commissioner Gutierrez mentioned that November 28, 2017 was Giving Tuesday for Southern Illinois.
Elius Reed announced that the SIU Board of Trustees Meeting is scheduled for December 13th and 14th beginning at 1:30p.m. and is located at Southern Illinois University Student Center.
Elius Reed mentioned that the I Can Read program has relocated to the Carbondale Elementary District 95.
Sarah Heyer announced that the Race Unity Group meeting will be held on December 5, 2017.
December 6, 2017 the Neighborhood Action Group meeting will be held on December 6, 2017 beginning at 5:00p.m.
Sarah Heyer announced that December 10, 2017 is Human Rights Day.
The Race Unity Group will receive an award from the United Nations Association of Southern Illinois.
The Racial Justice Coalition meeting will be held on December 7, 2017 beginning at 7:00p.m.
On December 12, 2017 the State of the City Address for Carbondale, IL.
Elius Reed mentioned that Channel 3 News reported that the City of Carbondale is taking suggestions about building an additional park in Carbondale, IL.
Chair Hennrich announced that any donations for the Coats for Kids Program Drive need to be turned in by December 11, 2017 to the Carbondale Police Department.

Chair Hennrich requested all Commissioners to review their website biography for updates.
Commissioner Gutierrez will present on the Jackson County Mass Transit for January 8, 2018 Human Relations Commission meeting.
Commissioner Shariati discussed creating a Human Relations Commission table for the upcoming SIU 2018 RSO Fair.
