Jackson County Finance and Administration Committee met Oct. 30.

Call to Order
Committee Members Present: Elizabeth Hunter, Milton Maxwell, Andrew Erbes, Scott Comparato and Dan Bost
County Board Members Present: Laurie Nehring and Tamiko Mueller

Finance and Administration Chair Elizabeth Hunter called the meeting to order at 5:05 p.m.
I. 17-2880 2017-2018 Budget Preparation
Finance & Administration Chair Elizabeth Hunter gave a recap of the FY18 budget preparation.
The countywide FY18 budget was presented as it would be placed on file for public viewing. The document would include the departmental budgets as well as compensation packages, the levy ordinance establishing the levies as recommended and the truth in taxation certificate of compliance. Motion by Comprato, seconded by Erbes to place the FY18 Ja ckson County Budget on file as presented, motion carried.
The committee discussed how to explain the setting of the property tax levies at a rate less than what could have to the constituents of the county. The committee requested what effect the levies as they had been set would have on a $100,000 home and additional training on property taxes, especially PTELL (property tax extension limitation law).
