The Varsity in Carbondale is putting its new screens and projector to work this holiday season with a screening of “It's a Wonderful Life” at 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 23, a posting on the Carbondale Chamber of Commerce's website said.
Considered a holiday classic, “It's a Wonderful Life” stars Jimmy Stewart as George Bailey, a struggling businessman who wonders if his family and friends would have better lives if he killed himself, but an angel appears to show George what the community would look like without him, IMDB.com's plot summary of the film said.
Cost for admission is $5 per person. Tickets can be purchased at The Varsity, at 418 S. Illinois Ave., 30 minutes before showtime or by going to the venue's Event Brite page.
The Varsity raised $5,000 to get the equipment necessary to show movies, with the ability to have private showings and film festivals down the road, the venue's website said.
