The calls in Carterville included 46 fires - 18 structure fires, four vehicle fires and 22 other fires. The fire department also responded to two calls for ruptures, explosions or overheating.
In all, the department saw $148,000 in fire loss - or about $3,217 per fire.
The department also received 35 false calls, including one malicious call and 34 other false calls.
The Carterville Firefighter's Pension Fund, which has four active employees and retired or inactive employee, was $17,204 in debt as of March 2016, according to the fund's mandated filings with the Illinois Department of Insurance. That amounts to $374 for every fire in 2016.
