Lake Egypt FPD responds to 55 fires in 2016

Lake Egypt Fire Protection District responded to 78 calls in 2016, according to data from the National Fire Incident Reporting System obtained by the SW Illinois News.

The calls in Lake Egypt included 55 fires - 21 structure fires, nine vehicle fires and 23 other fires. The fire department also responded to two calls for ruptures, explosions or overheating.

In all, the department saw $604,350 in fire loss - or about $10,988 per fire.

The department also received 23 false calls.
