The Jackson County chapter of the Illinois Federation of Republican Women (IFRW), part of the National Federation of Republican Women (NFRW), recently reminded constituents of the impending Aug. 1 application deadline for those seeking scholarships in 2016.
The annual IFRW Scholarship serves to support all Republican women in continuing their education and to spur increases in Republican women assuming leadership roles.
Jackson County issued its reminder with a list of customary IFRW scholarship requirements, along with guidance for crafting a quality submission. Applicants must have been IFRW/NFRW members for a minimum of one year and must be returning to campus as an upperclassman (all classes excluding freshmen).
Each aspiring candidate is required to provide documentation of Republican registration and proof of her voting history from the past four years, along with a declaration of the degree she is pursuing and an official grade transcript, with a minimum grade average of “B."
Additionally, IFRW advised that extracurricular and civic activities will strengthen applications, particularly Republican Party-oriented involvement.
Contenders can mail completed applications to IFRW Scholarship Chairman Debbie Monk at 1864 N. 400 East Road, Gilman, IL 60938-6041. Entries must be postmarked no later than Aug. 1. For more information, please go to http://ifrw.org/scholarship-information.
