Williamson County officials report four coronavirus deaths, with 121 confirmed cases

There have been 121 confirmed coronavirus cases in Williamson County as of July 2, with four deaths linked to the virus, according to data from the state Department of Public Health (IDPH).

Chicago (52,833 cases) and Cook County (38,548 cases) posted the highest numbers statewide. Chicago’s death toll from the virus stands at 2,623, while Cook County recorded 1,986 deaths, according to the IDPH.

Illinois residents who have been tested for COVID-19 now number 1,666,317, the department reported. And the age group with the most confirmed cases was 40 to 49, with 25,357 people in the age group testing positive for the virus.

Among all those testing positive in Illinois, 68,402 were male and 73,818 were female, the IDPH said. Male deaths linked to coronavirus numbered 3,792, while female deaths stood at 3,190.

Broken down according to race, the fatalities consisted of 3,105 Asians, 3,105 whites, 1,950 African-Americans, 1,443 Hispanics, and 162 belonging to other races or who did not provide their ethnicity before they died.
