6. Recognition of Guests and Visitors/Public Comment

The Board of Education welcomes the audience to make public or employee comments. The Board has set aside time in the agenda specifically for this purpose. Pursuant to Board Policy 2.230, each speaker shall be limited to a 5-minute presentation. Please be aware that such discussion or action will be added to the agenda for a future meeting.

7. Introduction of New Hires

The Board of Education approved the hiring of Lance Brokering as a 3rd Grade Teacher and Madison Meyer as a 1st Grade Teacher at the February 19, 2026 Board Meeting. We look forward to the positive contributions that Lance and Madison will bring to our students, staff, and school community.

8. Action: Amendment of 2025-2026 SY Calendar

We have utilized three of the five emergency days this winter (with Casimir Pulaski Day counted as a day of attendance rather than a day off as listed on the state- and ROE-submitted calendar), the last day of student attendance is scheduled for Monday, June 1, 2026. The final Teacher’s Institute will be held on Tuesday, June 2, 2026, and 8th Grade Graduation will be held on Thursday, May 21, 2026; in the event of future inclement weather days, additional emergency days or Act of God days will be utilized. It is recommended that the Board approve the 2025-2026 Amended School Calendar as presented.

9. Unity Point Goal-Setting Workshop

The board will review the Core Values/Beliefs, vision statements, and district goals developed during the February 28 Goal-Setting Workshop, along with the IASB follow-up letter outlining recommended next steps for implementation and monitoring. We will seek board consensus on final drafts of the Core Values/Beliefs and vision statements for each board priority area, with the intent to formally adopt them so the superintendent can begin strategic planning aligned to these goals. Over the next few board meetings, we will discuss and potentially act on the recommended steps for prioritizing goals and establishing progress monitoring and reporting timelines.
