CARBONDALE NON-BARGAINING UNIT EMPLOYEES PERSONNEL BOARD: Investigative Update - Aggravated Battery With a Firearm

Carbondale Non-Bargaining Unit Employees Personnel Board recently issued the following announcement.

An arrest warrant has been obtained for Jordan Kelderman as a result of the investigation into a shooting incident which occurred last weekend. On 02-15-20 at approximately 3:40 a.m., Carbondale Police officers responded to the 1000 block of East Park Street in reference to shots fired and a reported gunshot victim. During the course of the investigation, officers learned there was a dispute between acquaintances outside of a party. During the dispute, the victim suffered a non-life threatening gunshot wound. Detectives working the investigation identified Jordan Kelderman, 24 years old of West Frankfort, Illinois, as a suspect in this case. Detectives obtained a Jackson County arrest warrant for Kelderman for charges of Aggravated Battery with a Firearm and Aggravated Discharge of a Firearm. Kelderman is considered armed and dangerous. If you encounter Kelderman, do not approach him. Instead, contact your local law enforcement agency. Anyone with information about Kelderman’s whereabouts is asked to call the Carbondale Police Department.

Aggravated Battery with a Firearm: On 02-15-2020 at approximately 3:40 a.m., Carbondale Police officers responded to the 1000 block of East Park Street in reference to shots fired and a reported gunshot victim. During the course of the investigation, officers learned there was a dispute amongst acquaintances outside of a party. During the dispute, the victim suffered a non-life threatening gunshot wound. The victim was taken to Memorial Hospital of Carbondale where they were treated and released. The suspect is described as a light completed black male in his early 20’s, who is 5’08” tall, weighing 150 pounds, with shoulder length, dreadlock hair. He has a tattoo of a cross below his right eye. The suspect may be in a white sport utility vehicle, possibly a Chevrolet Suburban. The victim is not being identified at this time. The investigation into the incident is currently active and ongoing.
