Carbondale Chamber of Commerce recently issued the following announcement.
The Varsity Center is pleased to announce an upcoming event, “An Evening of Music and Film.” The show, which takes place at 7:30 p.m. Friday, June 22, features a new film by acclaimed Southern Illinois filmmaker Dan Johnson and international award-winning percussionist and marimba player Kevin Lucas.
Johnson will present his latest travel film, “Tempting Thai – A Whirl Through Thailand,” which chronicles his trip through Thailand and includes Bankok, the River Kwai, the ancient capitals, northern Thailand and Myanmar. Lucas will be performing original music, and his 2018 Global Music Award-winning music video “Africa” will be screened.
Tickets are $10 and can be purchased in advance only online at thevarsitycenter.eventbrite.org and at the door 30 minutes before the show. Cash and cards are accepted.
Doors and The Varsity Bar open at 7 p.m. The bar features classic and craft beers, wines, select cocktails, soda and snacks. Showtime is 7:30 p.m.
