Herrin City Library Board of Trustees met February 13. 

Here is the minutes as provided by the board:

Present:             Guebert, Hickman, Priest, Jones, Sarver, and Starnes


Also Present:     Mullen

Absent:              Savage, Frost

Visitor(s):            Kelly Caringer

The meeting was called to order at 6:28 PM by acting President Starnes.

No correspondence.

Secretary’s Report: Priest moved to approve the minutes from the January meeting. Guebert seconded. Motion carried.

Treasurer’s Report:

1. Bills to be paid. Acting treasurer Steve Priest presented the treasurer’s report. Guebert moved to approve the payment of $2761.67 for expenses incurred during the 2nd half of the previous month and approved $2314.84 for expenses this month to date. Jones seconded. Motion carried.

2. January (75% of the year completed) shows that 75.8% of the expense budget has been used leaving a checking account balance of $166,383.58. Guebert moved to approve the report. Sarver seconded. Motion carried.

3. Financial Balance Statement: Priest moved to approve the library balance sheet report for January 2018. Hickmam seconded. Motion carried.

Librarian’s Report: Mullen reported that circulation for January 2018 was down 5% as compared to the same month last year. She attributed the drop to the extremely cold weather experienced in January. Traffic on the library website was up greatly. Other statistics were reviewed.

Children’s Librarian Report: No report.

Illinois Heartland Library System Report & ILA News: No report.

Committee Reports:

1. Building and Grounds (TBA):

2. Community Enrichment (Guebert): No report.

3. Library Development & Technology (Savage): No report.

4. Special Gifts Committee (TBA): No report.

5. Friends Liaison (Starnes): Starnes submitted a written report. The pancake breakfast will be Saturday, March 17th from 7 – 11 AM at the Williamson County Senior Citizens Center in Herrin. The annual Library Open House will be Sunday, April 8th at 2 PM at HCL.

6. History Room: (Carnaghi): -No report.
