MINUTES OF THE SPECIAL MEETING OF THE BOARD OF EDUCATION CARBONDALE COMMUNITY HIGH SCHOOL DISTRICT 165, CARBONDALE, ILLINOIS HELD AUGUST 8, 2016
A special meeting of the Board of Education of School District 165 was held in the cafeteria of Carbondale Community High School, 1301 East Walnut Street, Carbondale, Illinois, on Monday, August 8, 2016, at 7:00 p.m.
Upon roll call, the following members were present:
Kathy Booziotis Joe Hudgins
Linda Flowers Brian Woodard
The following members were absent: Brad Cole, Francis Tsung
Also present were: Stephen Murphy, Daniel Booth
President Woodard declared a quorum present and the special meeting of August 8, 2016, was called to order.
Public Comments: There were no public comments.
Resignations: Motion by Booziotis, seconded by Flowers, to accept the following resignations as presented:
Jamie Hogue (School Counselor) effective July 31, 2016.
Kelsey Pruitt (Library Technician) effective August 5, 2016.
Stephanie Murray (Cook’s Helper) effective August 8, 2016.
Roll Call: Booziotis, Flowers, Woodard, Hudgins voted yes. Nay, none. Motion carried.
Employment of School Counselor: Motion by Flowers, seconded by Booziotis, to employ Toni Ruiz as a full-time School Counselor for the 2016-17 school year. Ms. Ruiz’s education and experience will place her at Line 11, Column MA/MS on the Teacher Salary Schedule ($64,786.00). Roll call: Booziotis, Hudgins, Flowers, Woodard voted yes. Nay, none. Motion carried.
2016-17 Extra-Duty/Extended-Time Personnel and Approval of Student Activities Director Assignment: Motion by Booziotis, seconded by Hudgins, to employ the following 2016-17 extra-duty/extended-time personnel as presented; and, approval of the Student Activities Director assignment as presented:
Counseling Department Chair: Erinn Murphy
Assistant Football Coach: Jeff Lustman ($1250.00)
Registration 1/2 month: Toni Ruiz
Student Activities Director Assignment:
Brandi Jones (1 Period Regular Duty Assignment)
Mr. Murphy noted that Student Activities Director is not an extra-duty position, but requested Board approval of the assignment.
Roll call: Booziotis, Hudgins, Flowers, Woodard voted yes. Nay, none. Motion carried.
Adjournment: Member Flowers made a motion to adjourn and Member Booziotis seconded the motion. The meeting adjourned at 7:09 p.m.
