Southern Illinois University’s women’s basketball team is preparing for its final two games of the 2025-26 regular season, both of which will be played away from home. The Salukis (9-18 overall, 6-12 in conference) are set to face Belmont University (17-11, 13-4) on Monday at the Curb Event Center in Nashville, Tennessee. This matchup is a rescheduled game originally planned for January 24 but postponed due to inclement weather.

The contest against Belmont will be Southern Illinois’ third game in five days. The Salukis recently played on Saturday during their Senior Day against Drake, falling by a score of 83-68. Kayla Cooper led Southern Illinois with 20 points and was perfect from three-point range. Indya Green and Jeniah Thompson, both honored before the game as part of Senior Day festivities, contributed 11 and 10 points respectively. Tkiyah Nelson added seven assists and six rebounds.

Belmont holds a historical advantage over Southern Illinois, leading the all-time series 9-0 and remaining undefeated at home against the Salukis. Their most recent meeting occurred on December 29, 2025, when Belmont secured a 68-56 victory in Carbondale. Belmont enters this game after an 88-79 win over Indiana State on their own Senior Day but had previously lost consecutive games to Illinois State and Bradley.

The Southern Illinois Salukis women’s basketball team competes at the NCAA Division I level as part of the Missouri Valley Conference (official website). The program operates out of Carbondale, Illinois, where it hosts home games at Banterra Center (official website).
